Knox County Poor House
Thursday, September 10th, 2009Built in 1878 as Knox County’s Poor House, the modern day House of Nightmares is said to be haunted. Shallow unmarked graves were found surrounding the building in recent years while development took place in the area. When a bible college moved into the building in the 1950s, an elevator crashed killing everyone inside. Signs of clothes and other rotting living things are seen in the basement.
Many apparitions have been seen in and around the building. Cold spots drift through the halls and sometimes voices can be heard. Presently the place is home to a staged haunted attraction during Halloween.
