MAGNOLIA’S VINEYARD RESTAURANT

This 1850’s building is named for a ghost of a young woman who walks the halls.Magnolia Evans was the daughter of a Union Major-General, who cam across a wounded Confederate Soldier in the vineyard behide her home. She nursed the man back to health and eventually fell in love with him.The two sweethearts agreed to meet after the war, but he never returned. Magnolia’s ghost is seen along the banks of Jordan Creek,at the spot she was to meet her lover.

Lighting a fire in the fireplace here seems to perturb the spirit of an Indian buried beneath the hearthston.The

hapless Indian was lynched for showing affection to a white girl.He was strung up in what is now the main dining room

of the old Maple Grove Hotel.The ghost and it stories are featured on the inn’s logo and menus.
