Kelton House

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

This is a old Greek Revival House, built in 1852 and situated on a shady block at 586 East Town Street,Once was a stop on the Underground Railroads. Now its the home to headquarters of the Junior League Of Columbus.

The ghosts here largely of those of the Keltons, who built the house and occupied it until the last of them, Grace Bird Kelton passed away in the mid-70’s.During the renovation in 1976 the workers were plagued by countless problems, including the moving of furniture back into its original positions and the hiding of the workers tools.

Later, both Oscar Kelton (dressed up his Union soldiers uniform) and Sophia Stone Kelton (in a period dress) have been spotted inside or on the grounds.

A secretary with the Junior League saw a man in a Union-blue infantry uniform standing close to the carriage house out back — probably Oscar Kelton himself who died fighting in the Confederates at the age of 18 years old and was brought back to Columbus Ohio to be buried in the family plot. “Sophia’s Room” , of the bedrooms with the most with the spiritual activity, is where Sophia Stone Kelton appears sometimes to guest or employees. And she is sometimes seen dressed all in blue usually with a veil over her face and as she is gazing out her bedroom window.Grace, the longest-lived member of the family, may also haunt the house.

Oscar Kelton’s father, Fernando Cortez Kelton, who had his sons body returned from the battlefield, might also linger on East Town Street; a man wearing a flannel shirt once bumped into a volunteer and then disappeared in from of the volunteer eyes, and then leaving and empty hall. The vague description of the man in a flannel seems to fit with that of the older Kelton.

Now, the Kelton House is rented out to weddings and parties and there are tours given as well.If you ever book you wedding here you might get guests and uninvited guest in a Victorian dress according to reports, its fairly common occurrence that happens at the Kelton House.

I used to pass the Kelton House on my way to class while i was attending classes at Columbus State Community College. I never really heard of the Kelton House before intill now a friend of mine mention the house to me once.

Yes, i believe the Kelton House to be haunted by the Kelton Family members i would love to take a tour the Kelton House to see if i could get the Kelton Family to come out and play.

Me and Brian went to the Kelton house over the weekend for the tour of the house i asked one of the volunteers about the hauntings she told they weren’t allowed to talk about them at all you thought they would talk about them they are part of the history of the house.

Glen Echo Park

Glen Echo Park is located at 510 Cliffside Drive which is on the East Side of Columbus Ohio. There are two ways to access the park there is a staircase leading down to the park and there is also a long and steep driveway down to the park as well.

I’m not sure if there is any other ways to access the park. I just recently investigated Glen Echo Park i didn’t capture any proof that Glen Echo Park is haunted. But i do believe that Glen Echo Park is haunted from the stories i heard from friends.

The park is supposed to be haunted by the ghosts of a vagrant who froze to death in the storm tunnel underneath the Indianola bridge, a young Goth woman, and a witch.

There has been a sighting of the vagrant, and orbs frequently show up in pictures taken near the center bridge where the Goth girl is said to hang out.

If anyone has any information about who this Gothic women and the witch is feel free and e-mail me and share your experiences
